World Photography Day is here, with an aim to inspire photographers all over the world to share their view and emotions with the world. Photography has evolved drastically throughout the years and inspired many budding photographers to take it up as a career. It is celebrated to mark the art, craft, science and history of photography. Also, the day to encourage the people who aim to make photography their profession or hobby. The Department of Photography at JD Institute of Fashion Technology celebrates “Slice of Life” in black and white to commemorate the world of photography.
Photography isn’t just a document, but an emotion conveyed through pictures. It is a ‘Universal Language’ and appeals to all. Also represents a state of mind and communicates a message. It evokes emotions and makes it a memory. This World Photography Day let’s embrace the boon of Photography in our lives and it being an episode of actual experience.
Each image represents an emotion, and it adds depth especially, when in a monochromatic form. Monochrome is defined as an image with a single colour or varying tones of a single colour. Monochrome Photography is when the complete image is captured and represented by varying levels of light rather than varies hues. When monochrome is added to stills of life, it creates depth and showcases an emotion. ‘Slices of Life’ or stills of photography is captured of the lifestyle and used for the depiction of inanimate subject matter, typically of a small group of people or objects. The person who captures still photography or motion photography of the slices of life or lifestyle pictures is known as a Unit still photographer.
Photography is about expressing yourself through visuals with a deep meaning. This World Photography Day, celebrate the essence of photography and its existence in our lives. The World’s first photograph was captured in 1826 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and was titled ‘View from the window by Le Gras’, but the first colour photograph was taken by the mathematical physicist James Clerk Maxwell. Furthermore through the years, photography was categorized into many types like Portrait photography, Landscape photography, Food photography, Wildlife photography, Sports photography, Travel Photography, Still life photography and Fashion Photography.
