Designer Pooja Malik S’s collection, “The Unfold Mystique” is derived from the word Unfold – to open out something that was folded and Mystique – the quality of hidden or secret characteristics that makes something interesting and attractive. The inspiration for the collection, was drawn from the Chennakeshava Temple in Belur in Hassan district of Karnataka, which was built during the reign of the Hoysalas.

The Chennakeshava Temple was built during the 12the century in Hassan district of Karnataka. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu God, Vishnu. The temple is known for its outstanding architecture, sculptures, inscription, iconography and history. The artwork of the temple depicts scenes from the sacred books of Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Puranas. It also depicts themes from Shaivism, Shaktism, Jainism and Buddhism. Every inch of the temple is intricately carved with filigree work.

Inspired by the intricate filigree work of the temple, the designer used 3d Fabric manipulation techniques. The technique was used as surface ornamentation. Different elements of the temple were incorporated in the structure of the garment. Instead of using natural leather to create the garments, the designer used imitation leather to display the texture and feel of the temple along with satin lining. The colours used for the garments were – copper with gold texture, silver with grey texture, black, light brown and dark drown, were also reminiscent of the temple
